Event Information

Five Years!

2022 was our fifth annual DJ Run! This was a huge milestone for us. the incredible community that has formed around the event and the lives we have been able to touch has made this such an unbelievable experience to be a part of.

To think that this has grown from two friends honoring the memory of a dear friend to a movement that has spanned continents and helped save lives.

Together we can make a difference and we are eager for you to play a role in the bright future ahead of DJ Run and Watch Me Rise.

Goals:

Following previous years, we had a personal goal of 33km for each participant. This is in commemoration of Derrick Kropman (DJ), the event’s namesake, who would have been 33 in 2022 had he not passed.

Starts:

16th November 2022 00:00

Ends:

20th November 2022 23:59

Virtual event:

You can participate from anywhere in the world. There will not be any one location that the event will take place in.

We will be integrating with Strava to track everyone’s exercise submissions. See the frequently asked questions below or contact us if you are having trouble or need more information.

  • All forms of exercise are allowed.
  • Activities will be pulled from Strava. Activities can be tracked in the Strava mobile App, synced to Strava via a supported connected device or manually entered on the Strava App or website.
  • Only exercises within the dates and times of the event will count.

Donations:

We raised funds for the first time last year for an organization in South Africa that supports mental health “The South African Depression and Anxiety Group”. Thanks to our amazing community we were able to raise R6 413.04 in donations. This year we will continue raising funds as we believe they are making a big difference in supporting those that need it. Strava is an American internet service for tracking physical exercise which incorporates social network features. It is mostly used for cycling and running using Global Positioning System data.

You can either track your event entries automatically after you linked your Strava account on your profile. By simply tracking your activity in Strava as normal.

Or you can manually add your activities on your profile page.

You can participate from anywhere in the world, as this will be a virtual event. There will not be any one location where the event will take place.

Even though the name of the event is DJ Run any form of exercise that you can track duration and/or distance will be allowed.

The event will start at 00:00 on the morning of the 16th of November 2022. And will end at 23:59 at night on the 20th of November 2022. Only activities entered during these times will count.

If you can’t participate in the event we also offer a donation option.

You don’t need to complete the 33km goal in one run. The event entries will be cumulative meaning all your activity entries will count toward your total.
